Who is Rachel Hofer?
Do we ever really figure out who we really are? I would like to say I know who I am, but then again I am constantly trying to find and then better myself. So I may never know, but I can at least tell you a little about my story. I am a small town girl from small town Mountain View, Wyoming. I grew up in a town where the 7,000 foot elevation far exceeds the 1,000 people in population. Sometimes growing up I thought growing up in a small town with what seemed like nothing to do, was a curse. However as I have grown I have discovered that it was just the opposite. Growing up “in the county” made me appreciate the air we breathe, the trees we use, the water we drink, the flowers we pluck, and the very ground we walk on. This is where my love for photography and video all started, I just didn’t know it yet. My whole life I wanted to be a high school teacher. I looked up to all of my teachers so much and I wanted to be that for someone some day, however when getting ready for college I completely changed my mind. Instead I would study television and radio production, film, and communication studies. This is where my true passion was found, in telling stories through pictures, both still and moving. From then on out I started capturing my vision, story, and love through the lens of a camera. The trees, flowers, rocks, water, old worn out parts that were now part of the earth, and so much more became more than just something to look at, but to capture and share.
